Spiritus author and speaker, Anika Hanisch, helped present a workshop on self-defense for teen girls at the GFAC conference in Bozeman, MT (more below). "The girls were incredibly attentive," said Hanisch. "They asked great questions, had a lot of fun, and came away saying they'd learned a ton!"

The three are all members of the same Taekwondo school, Cunningham's ATA. In this session for teen girls in grades 8-12, Hanisch looks forward to sharing not only practical technique, but also discussing the connection between self-defense principles and overcoming any obstacle in day-to-day life.

Anika Hanisch had her personal narrative "Climbing Lessons" published in the December 2008 issue of Guideposts, a positive thinking magazine with a circulation of 2.3 million in the United States. The story is one of Hanisch's most personal pieces and reflects on her experience learning to ice climb and uses that as a metaphor for healing after divorce.
